To our surprise, both of our mentors are located in the Philadelphia office! My mentor is Othon Roitman, a manager in the SAP Service Line, who also specializes in Materials Management. AWESOME!
The SAP mentorship program is a highly structured opportunity that has four "phases" and five "sessions." Unfortunately, I'll miss four out of these five sessions in person. However, through the "magic of the Internet," Kalie and I have been dialing into a teleconference line to listen to each presentation. We also follow along on a WebEx, an application that allows a presenter to share his or her screen on our laptops, while presenting.
After the sessions, we are sent activities that we complete and return to our mentors. Then, follow up discussions are usually held between the mentor and the mentee by phone. So far in India, I have had two calls with my mentor. One took place just this morning. We discussed a personal SWOT analysis that I had completed. Another call will take place in two weeks.
Though I'd much rather be doing this in person, it's a VALUABLE experience. I'm definitely looking forward to meeting Othon in person once I'm back home - even hoping that since he works in the Philly office, I can benefit from his expertise long after the program is over!
