On the issue of bifurcation, the Group of Ministers (GoM) on Telangana met with a variety of political parties (MIM, BJP, CPI, TRS, CPI (M) and YSRCP) on Tuesday and Wednesday to continue discussion. The Chief Minister of the GoM will also meet the union ministers from Seemandhra region on November 18.
The Chief Minister has openly opposed the division of Andhra Pradesh and listed several problems that might crop up due to formation of Telangana. The GoM, having heard the views of political parties including the ruling Congress party, invited the Chief Minister to speak with them separately, in view of his negative stand on Telangana. Additionally, the Congress party gave split opinion on the issue with Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha supporting Telangana and Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar speaking against the bifurcation.
Published reports continue to claim that the new state of Telangana will established by the end of the year. Stay tuned.
